Improvisatio

Ward Hall at The Catholic University of America
Antonio and his trio, with guest pianist and friend, Benjamin Batalla, performed their first jazz concert together at The Catholic University of America, officially marking the start to Antonio's jazz and improvisation series on campus. The program featured Dan Bosko on bass, and Nick Geer on drums. The program consisted of standards including Fly Me to the Moon, Strasburg St. Denis by Roy Hargrove, solo renditions of Misty and How Great Thou Art, Take the A Train, and Antonio's original composition- "Wandering Waltz". THe highlight of the performance was when Antonio and Benjamin performed on two pianos simultaneously, while free-improvising and meditating on the Biblical passage of John, Chapter 20. The experience of simultaneous two-piano, unplanned and free-improvisation in front of an audience was an exciting experience for both pianists and is a concept both are hoping to continue and showcase in the future.
